At the primary level, Technology Education lays a foundation for lifelong learning. Student learning is enhanced when computer skills are integrated into the Pre-Kindergarten-5th curricula. WCS provides updated hardware and software programs supported by the business world for real-world applications, allowing students to learn to use technology efficiently and effectively.
Over time, students are able to flexibly apply these new proficiencies in age-appropriate, creative ways that reflect good values, are purposeful, competent and pleasing to God.
Currently, the student computer lab houses 26 MAC computers, two shared printers, a scanner, a Brightlink Interactive Whiteboard, and a sound amplification system. Each student is provided with personal headphones.
●Classes meet for 45 minutes once each week
●We use a server-based, firewall-protected MAC OS X Lion operating system and Safari browser Students will:
●Learn basic computer terminology and parts of the computer
●Learn basic keyboarding skills and improve those skills through repetition and practice at home ●Develop habits of good stewardship by learning and practicing hardware and software applications ●Integrate classroom assignments with Technology Education through various software applications and Web 2.0 tools
